MAPUSA: Goan Warriors Sports Club managed to pip Penha de France Sports Club in the GFA's U14 (Bardez Zone) play-off played at Duler Stadium here on Thursday.

In the 13th minute a solo effort by Goan Warrior's Zaid Khan was blocked by the rival goalkeeper.

Another chance went in vain for Goan Warriors in the injury time. A combined move by Ismail and Zaid where Zaid finished with a neat placement, 1-0.

On resumption of play Penha De France's Vardhan Govekar made a darting run inside the rival's penalty box but was brilliantly thwarted by keeper Karan in one to one situation.

In the 57th minute a 30-yard shot by Goan Warriors's Fati Rane was superbly tipped over the post by Penha keeper.

Just five minutes before the final whistle, Penha de France were awarded a penalty when Kabeer was brought down by the rival defender. However Babu Hussain strike from the penalty spot was saved by keeper Karan.

In the Mormugao zone, Cortalim Gymkhana scored a resounding 11-0 win over Young Humorists Club.

The winners had six different scorers with two players —Krunal Naik and Jayson Gama scoring a hat-trick apiece. Christany Xavier, who came in the second half in place of hat-trick hero Jayson, also marked his entry netting two goals. Valroy Dias, Reuban Azavedo and Ashon Vaz netted a goal each for the winning side.
