FATORDA: Holy Spirit Institute, Margao defeated AIM Salcete HS, Davorlim 4-0  to move into the last eight stage of the U-14 Salcete Taluka boys Subroto Mukherjee football tournament organised by DSYA and played at Astroturf ground – Fatorda on Tuesday.

Yuvraj Chadankar scored a brace while Sharmad Kurade and Leshawn Cardozo scored a goal each for the winners.

 Auxillium HS also made it to the quarter-finals with an identical 4-0 win over OL of Succor HS, Nagoa – Verna. Shane D’Costa scored a brace while Denell Fernandes and Sheadon Rodrigues scored a goal each.

In the third match, Assumpta Convent HS of Sarzora scored a hard fought 3-2 win over OL of Snow’s HS, Raia. Allan Rebello, Rovan Fernandes and Alexander Alemao scored for Assumpta Convent while Yohan Fernandes and Abraham Gaonkar were the scorers for OL of Snow’s HS.  

In the Bardez taluka level, St Theresa High School Candolim scored a convincing 2-0 victory over Holy Cross High School, Siolim to move ahead at Peddem Complex, Mapusa.

Ramesh Lamani and Valenton Colaco scored the goals for the Candolim school.

In the second match St. Britto’s High School, Mapusa blanked St Francis Xavier High School, Siolim 3-0. Alfaan Khan Shantesh Mhapsekar and Devdatt Narvekar scored a goal each for the Mapusa school.

Meanwhile, Spring Valley High School, Porvorim and St Elizabeth High School, Pomburpa got a walkover and moved into the second round as their opponents failed to report on the ground.
