IM Audi secures podium finish

PANJIM: In a thrilling display of strategic prowess and tactical brilliance, International Master Audi Ameya clinched a podium finish at the 2nd Indore International GM Open Tournament held from January 9 to 16. Ameya’s remarkable journey saw him rise from the 16th seed to secure the 7th position based on merit.

The tournament showed a participation of 131 players from various corners of the globe including 67 titled players, intensifying the level of competition. Ameya secured 6 wins and 2 draws, accumulating a total of 7 points out of a possible 10 rounds. Some of Ameya’s remarkable and exciting performances was his draw against GM Fedorov Alexie from Belarus and wins against WIM Luong Phuong Hanh of Vietnam, IM Ilamparthi, and WGM P V Nandhidhaa of India, thus demonstrating his versatility in facing opponents with diverse playing styles.

The first three places were bagged by GM Boris Savchenko of Russia, GM Fedorov Alexie of Belarus and IM Ratnakaran K of India.
