PTI, MUMBAI: Mumbai FC have appointed Spaniard Oscar Bruzon Barreras as the head coach for the remainder of the I-League 2016-17 season.

Bruzon's appointment comes after the side parted ways with earlier coach Santosh Kashyap.

Before accepting the Mumbai FC job, he was acting as an assistant manager to Fernando Vazquez at RCD Mallorca in Spain's Segunda (Second) Division, a release issued by the club said.

The Spaniard has previous experience of working in India and in the I-League. He helped Sporting Club de Goa to 6th and 5th place finishes in 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, respectively, and in the Federation Cup where Sporting reached the final in 2013-14.

Oscar said, "I want the players to believe we can do it. I don't want to go further than the next match. We play Churchill Brothers next and that's our only focus right now."

Mumbai FC take on Churchill Brothers, on April 8.  Mumbai currently lie at the bottom of the I-League table with 10 points from 14 matches.

Mumbai have three more home matches against Chennai City FC (April 16), Shillong Lajong FC (April 23) and East Bengal (yet to be scheduled).
