Navelim Sporting move ahead

RAIA: Navelim Sporting emerged victorious over St Anthony SC, Assolda, with a narrow 1-0 win in the 26th Holy Cross inter-village football tournament played at Vodlemoll ground, Kakoda, on Sunday.

From the kick-off, Navelim Sporting displayed an aggressive attacking style, showcasing brilliant moves that kept the opposition defence on their toes. Despite their dominance, they struggled to break through the defence until Ronaldo Pereira found the back of the net in the 29th minute, giving Navelim Sporting the crucial lead heading into half-time.

The second half saw St Anthony SC stepping up their offensive efforts in an attempt to equalise, launching a relentless series of attacks. However, Navelim Sporting’s steadfast defence held firm, denying St Anthony SC any clear opportunities to score. St Anthony SC came close to levelling the score when Vinton Fernandes delivered a powerful header from a corner kick, narrowly missing the target.

St Anthony SC failed to find the much-needed equaliser, and the final whistle blew with the score reading 1-0 in favour of Navelim Sporting. With this hard-fought victory, Navelim Sporting moved into next round.
