Navelim Villagers Union edge past DBO Fatorda; Betalbatim SC pip Pax of Nagoa

PANJIM: Navelim Villagers Union scored a hard fought 3-4 win over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda in the Goa Football Associations U-16 match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda, on Wednesday.

PANJIM: Navelim Villagers Union scored a hard fought 3-4 win over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda in the Goa Football Associations U-16 match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Fatorda, on Wednesday.

Don Bosco Oratory playing at home impressed in the initial stages of the match and soon shot into the lead through Shann D'Silva in the 5th minute and started defending resolutely in order to keep the Navelim strikers at bay.

The Navelim side struggled for a while until they netted the equaliser in the 28th minute through Nash Pereira.

The Don Bosco Oratory youngsters made another brilliant run and scored to maintain their one goal lead through Soccoro Colaco in the 32nd minute.

The joy was short-lived as the Navelim outfit scored three quick goals post half time through Ashish Cardinho, who scored the equaliser, while Mark Gomes netted a brace to give his team a 2-goal lead.

Struck by reverse, Don Bosco Oratory tried their level best to get back into the game but managed to only pull a goal back through Clifford Noronha in the add on time. The match ended 4-3 in favour of Navelim Villagers Union.

In another match at Betalbatim ground, Betalbatim Sports Club edged past Pax of Nagoa 3-2.

Pax of Nagoa dominated the proceedings initially and scored two goals through Rahul Singh and Aldric Gama in the 6th and 24th minute to down the Betalbatim Sporting Club, however, the home side fought back and scored three quick goals through Noah Azavedo, Joe Liston Ferrao and Neston Fernandes to win the match.
