PUNE: Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda and Rosary HSS, Navelim senior boys and school girls extended Goa’s domination by taking the top spots in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports West Zone football championship that concluded at the DSK Football Field here on Saturday.

The four teams from Goa also progressed to the National round to be held in Mumbai later this month. Our Lady of Rosary downed Pune’s Loyola HS and Junior College 3-0 in their last league match to clinch the junior boys’ crown. This was the second title for a Goan team following Fr Agnel’s College of Commerce and Arts, Pilar success in the college boys’ category on Friday.

Clifford Noronha, who was also adjudged Player-of-the-Match, essayed the lead role in Our Lady of Rosary’s victory booting two goals. Maxwell Furtado sealed the opposition’s fate with a 55th minute strike.

Rosary HS girls began the day on a bright note for Goa by recording a thumping 9-0 victory over The Bishop’s School, Pune. The victory landed them the second spot  behind table toppers My Own High School, Ahmedabad and pushed Mumbai’s Fr Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College to the third place.

The Rosary senior boys, whose previous games ended in draws, won their first match against St Vincent High School, Pune 9-0 to finish second behind leaders Mumbai’s Thakur College of Science and Commerce.

Strendly Fernandes and Precio D’Souza  led the charge for Rosary HSS. Baggio Fernandes, Ariston Costa, Savelon Cardozo were the other goal scorers for the winners who led 5-0 at the breather. St Vincent’s woes were compounded when Roshan Nair was guilty of scoring an own goal off a deflection.
