RAIA-COLVA: Sporting Club of Davorlim blanked PVC Association 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 48th Custodio memorial football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club, at Raia panchayat ground, on Saturday. 

PVC Coach Gregory D,Souza gave an extra task to Atish Mirajkar to control the midfield as well as the striker’s role and just in the second minute itself Atish took a long range shot but failed to pop up into Davorlim net. Davorlim coach Venson gave extra task to Robinson Colaco to attack and even control the defence lines. Robinson should have netted in the 19th minute but PVC keeper was equal to the task.

In the second half, Davorlim opened the score-line through Agnelo Colaco’s deft placement shot in the 41st minute. Ten minutes later, Cidroy Miranda’s curler made it 2-0.

SC Davorlim will now meet the winner of Fr Agnelo YC, Paroda and CDJ Ribandar in the quarter-finals on July 13.

Earlier the tournament was declared opened in the presence of Cosme Oliveira, Anthony Oliveira, Navnath Shirodkar, Pele Xavier of Raia Sporting Club .

A one minute silence was observed in memory of Custodio and other late members of the club.
