MAPUSA: Saligao Sporting Club registered a convincing 5-2 win over Parish Youth Sports Club Vagator to enter the quarters of the Milagres Soccer Cup, organised by Milagres Sports Club, at Duler Stadium, here on Tuesday.

It was Craig Menezes who opened the account for Saligao Sporting in the 5th minute of play, when he scored with an adroit placement to give his side the lead.

In the 23rd minute, Ajay Diwadkar got hold of a ball just outside the penalty box, darted inside and slammed the ball past the rival Vagator keeper to double the lead.

Seven minutes later, the Saligao side netted their third goal through Michael Dias who gave finishing touches to Ajay Diwadkar’s cross.

On crossing over, Vagator did manage to get back into the match with James Fernandes and Lester Albuquerque pumping in two goals.

However in the last ten minutes of the match, Saligao hammered two more goals through Sachin Satelkar and Allen Gonsalves to take the score tally to 5-2.

Calangute Association will now take on Augustias SC on June 20.
