St Savio’s SC, St Anthony Marna advance into semis

MAPUSA: St Savio’s Sports Club registered a fluent 3-0 win against Nerul Sports Club to advance into the semi-finals of Late Anthony & Santana Carvalho Memorial Soccer cup organised by St Savio’s SC, Calangute, at Poriat ground, on Tuesday. 

Calangute started earnestly where in the third minute, Carl D’Souza’s 25-yard shot was saved by the rival goalkeeper Dnyaneshwar Madgaonkar. 

However, in the 8th minute, Calangute took the lead through Domnic Fernandes 22-yard direct free-kick. 

Calangute would have extended their lead in the 30th minute when Domnic Fernandes 22-yard curling shot was well saved by the rival goalkeeper. 

In the 32nd minute, Calangute doubled their lead through Runaal Shirodkar 20-yard curling shot to make it 2-0. 

On crossing ends, in the 69th minute, Calangute increased their lead through Domnic Fernandes with a clinical finish to make it 3-0. 

Nerul Sports Club tried a lot to come back into the game but their forwards lacked finishing touch. 

On Monday, St. Anthony's SC registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Goan Warriors FC to advance into the semi-final

In the 6th minute, St. Anthony SC took the lead through Vasudev Agarwadekar with a placement shot off Sangam Pednekar’s cross.

St. Anthony's almost doubled the lead in the 32nd minute when Dalesh Pednekar 28-yard powerful shot was thwarted away by rival goalkeeper Sanij Budge. 

Post resumption, in the 63rd minute, St Anthony doubled the lead through Dalesh Pednekar off Sangam Pednekar’s cross. 

Goan Warriors FC tried their best to come back but their forwards lacked finishing touch.
