PANJIM: St. Xavier’s, Old Goa won the Ringo stick tournament in Group A in  the boys category  which was organised by the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) as part of its “1st State Level Sports Competitions for Special School Children”, at the SAG Athletics Stadium, Bambolim recently. 

Sanjay School Curchorem were the runners-up while Gujrati Samaj Margao came third. In the girls category, KSS, Bicholim were the winners followed by St. Xavier’s Old Goa while  Peace Haven,  Caranzalem settled for the third place.

In Group B, in the boys category, Chetana Edu society, Curchorem won the first place while Sanjay School, Porvorim were the runners-up and KSS, Valpoi finished in 3rd place.

In the girls category Gujrati Samaj, Margao finished first and SFAL Panaji were the runner-up.  Sanjay School, Curchorem settled for third.

Twenty-two “Intellectually Disabled” teams comprising of 13 boys and 9 girls from 14 Special Schools along with 8 “ Hearing Impaired teams”  ( 5 Boys /3 Girls) participated.

 SAG Executive Director V.M. Prabhudessai declared the tournament open while chief guest Sagar Shetye President of Keshav Seva Sadhna Special School, Biawarded the medals and certificates to the winners and runners-up. Sr. Monica Coelho, Principal of St. Xavier’s Academy, Old Goa, Sanjana Prabhudessai ,Principal of KSS Bicholim, Kaushika Makwana, Principal Gujrati Samaj Special School, Margao and Manjiri Jog ,incharge KSS, Valpoi were the other dignitaries present for the event. 

This was the third tournament in the series of tournaments conducted by SAG for the Special School Children as part of its 1st State Level Sports Competitions for Special School Children, where Athletics and Bocce tournaments were conducted earlier.
