Stavlon stars in Zaino’s win over St Rock’s YC
Scores hat-trick to help his team crush Majorda 5-1, Anthony and Blasco are the other scorers
CURTORIM: Sports Welfare Club of Zaino defeated St Rock Youth Club, Majorda 5-1 in the Goa Football Association (GFA) Second Division league match played at Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs ground, at Curtorim, on Friday.
Stavlon Cardozo scored a hat-trick for the winners.
The hat-trick hero supported his team in all areas and was in action in the first minute when he set up Arvind Fernandes at goal, but the latter’s move was foiled by St Rock’s defender Royston Goes.
In the fifth minute, St Rock had the chance to take a surprise lead but Leslie Fernandes’ timely tackled denied Flesbon Ferrao.
In the next minute, Wendell missed a glorious chance to give St Rock the lead as he shot wide from the close range.
Zaino took the lead in the seventh minute through Stavlon Cardozo, who leapt highest to nod in Blasco Fernandes corner to break the deadlock.
Stafford DCosta of St Rock gave a wonderful back hill pass to Flesban Ferrao, but the latter squandered the opportunity by shooting wide in the 15th minute.
St Rock’s Wendell and Roystan defended well to deny Macron in couple of occasions in the second quarter.
Zaino finally doubled the lead at the half-hour mark through Stavlon before the lad completed his hat-trick just before the breather.
Crossing ends, Zaino scored two more goals.
Anthony Barreto scored the team’s fourth in the 74th minute while Blasco Fernandes hit the final nail in St Rock’s coffin in the 90th minute.
St Rock pulled a goal back through Ismael Pathan in the 76th minute.
