FATORDA: FC Goa secured their second home win after their 5-2 triumph over Kerala Blasters at Fatorda, on Saturday.

Despite some individual brilliance from hat-trick hero Coro and Lanzarote, Coach Sergio Lobera felt it’s the team effort which counts the most.

“The team has to work together. But it’s the collective effort that has been getting us these results,” said FC Goa Coach Sergio Lobera while addressing the post match conference at Fatorda Stadium.

FC Goa has scored 13 goals in four games – the highest number of goals scored by a team in the ISL so far, but the home side has also conceded maximum goals (9) joint with Kerala Blasters.

“It is something we need to work on. We have scored 13 goals and we have to be proud and we need to work on our defence. And when I say defence, it’s collective as a whole and we will try to work on it,” said Lobera.

FC Goa has fielded almost same faces in the last four games, and the coach expressed that there is lot of unseen good quality in the squad.

“There are still lot of players that you’ll haven’t seen. But when the team is doing well we need to go with the same, to make the maximum out of it,” explained Sergio.

Sergio also thanked the fans for turning out in large and backing his team and said they would give their best not to disappoint the fans.

Meanwhile Kerala Blasters coach Rene Meulensteen felt his side suffered a blow the moment Dimitar Berbatov had to leave the pitch in the 4th minute.

“It was definitely a big setback. He was bit of a catalyst in the team to keep that quality in the team,” said Rene.

“I know Berbatov really well he is not a soft player. It’s a calf problem, so we will have to wait and see. It’s going to be a problem for us. He had a different role. He used to be composed behind and we will have to see how we will cope with this,” said Rene explaining on the Bulgarian.

The visiting coach said that his team had seven minutes of torture which made it very difficult to get back into the game.

“We had seven minutes of total torture. We conceded three goals in those minutes. When we concede three in seven, it’s almost no way to go for us,” lamented Rene.

“They have got really good footballers in the middle of the park. They have good understandings. But also there have risk in that and we capitalised on that,” said Kerala coach commenting on FC Goa team.

“Quality football and great finishing from them (FC Goa), and poor football from us. That sums today’s match,” concluded Meulensteen.
