PANJIM:
Don Bosco Higher Secondary School became the first Higher Secondary School to
have its own tennis courts which was inaugurated, in Panjim, recently.
The Tennis court was inaugurated by chief guest, Natasha Palha in the presence
of guest of honour Rajendra Godinho, principal of Don Bosco HSS, Fr Savio Gomes
and Fr Wilfred Fernandes.
Goa’s Tennis sensation, Natasha Palha

priests to introduce tennis courts to their already sports friendly institution
and rejoiced as the efforts were rewarded and dream achieved.
She
further said, “Tennis has taught me so much; it has taught me how to believe in
myself and how perseverance is the most important quality to get to wherever
you want to be. It has taught me independence because when you are playing on
court the only person who can help you to win is you, so you have to give it
your best. It has taught me hard work and discipline.”
Principal
of Don Bosco HSS, Fr Savio Gomes thanked the sponsors and Fr Bennett who has
worked hard to get the courts ready and urged the students to use the courts
well and become champions like Natasha one day.
Rajendra
said, “Tennis has not been easily accessible for people. It was more of a game
for the elite, and today is a historical day as Tennis has come to the school
and students can use it.”
He
thanked Don Bosco HSS and the management who have managed to come up with the
facility.
The
function was compered by Jovito Lopes and Fr Wilfred proposed the vote of
thanks.
The
courts have been financed by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and have
come to light due to the hard work of the rector Fr Savio Gomes, Vice rector
Wilfred Fernandes and Fr Bennet Aranjo.
