Uguem Rising Club win shoot-out
UTORDA: Uguem Rising Club shot-out CAC Sports & Social Club, Cansaulim 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-final of the 26th Lourdes festival all Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Bernard Custodio D’Souza organised by United Club of Utorda in association with Sports Authority of Goa, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Wednesday.
CAC Cansaulim’s Veegan Ferrao missed a chance to score in the sixth minute as the Uguem goalkeeper Wilson Martin punched the ball over the cross bar.
Veegan missed another opportunity in the 25th minute to score with just the goalkeeper at his mercy but the goalkeeper came up with a good save.
Uguem Rising Club were good at short passes while the Cansaulim forwards fumbled with the opportunities that came across.
Post resumption in the 52nd minute, Shailesh Velip’s powerful header missed the target by an inch.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Aliston Sousa, Ashley da Costa, Arnold Rodriguez and Jerry Dias scored for Uguem Rising Club while Clifton Silva and Chadwick Furtado scored for CAC Cansaulim.
