CURTORIM: Varca SC defeated Dicarpale SC 10-9 via the tie-breaker in the GFA 3rd Division (play-off) match played at DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.

Dicarpale SC coach Micheal Carvalho fielded Reeve D’Costa and Mario Vales in the midfield while the Varca SC coach didn’t have any changes in his line up.

Dicarpale SC seemed to have the upper hand in the match as Reeve D’Costa took a powerful shot from close range in the 2nd minute however it got the deflection of Varca defender and went out of play. 

On the other end, Varca’s U-20 striker Bapan Chhaiyal, shot from the top of Dicarpale SC box however the goalkeeper slammed away the ball in the 4th minute.

Reeve D’Costa, of Dicarpale collected the ball with his left foot and slammed it into the nets of Varca SC to take the lead in the 5th minute. 

Later, Dicarpale got another chance after Varca SC defender was found guilty of a foul. Dicarpale’s Mario Vales attempted a direct free kick which was fisted away by Varca SC in the 7th minute. 

It took 9 minutes, for Mario Vales to double the lead with a point blank shot off Jermaiah Viegas assist.

Quelon Alemao defender of Varca blocked Reeve D’Costa of Dicarpale inside the Varca box in the tenth minute.

Colombon Noronha of Varca, took control of the ball from Clive Colaco and dribbled past Mario and shot towards the goal but to his dismay the rival keeper was equal to the task in the 15th minute.

Macklin Mascarenhas pulled a goal back for Varca in the 34th minute while in the 37th minute Columban Noronha made it 2-2 for Varca.

Mario Vales made it 3-2 for Dicarpale SC in the 47th minute while Daniel Fernandes made it 3-3 for Varca in the 49th minute.

In the resultant tie-breaker Varca SC proved to be better shooters.
