SANGOLDA: Vasco Veterans scored a facile 4-1 win over Candolim Veterans, to enter the quarter-finals of the Monte de Guirim Platinum Jubilee Veterans Football Tournament, at Sangolda panchayat ground, on Saturday.

Contrary to the score line, it was Candolim Veterans who dominated initially and drew first blood when Dondu picked up an unmarked Anthony Pontis and the latter found the corner of the net giving no chance to John in the Vasco goal. 

Candolim held on to their lead and ended the first half with one goal up.

The second session belonged to the veterans from Vasco.  

Ramesh Palkar restored parity in the 50th minute. Nelson Landez made it 2-1 with a well taken free-kick. Ramesh converted from spot kick to get his brace and then did all the hard work to provide Santan Furtado with a tap in for the fourth goal and give his side a resounding 4-1 win.  

They now play Chinchinim Veterans in the quarter-final on October 29.
