PANJIM: Velsao Sports and Cultural Club edged past St. Savio SC 2-1 in the GENO First Division League organised by Goa Football Association, played at Artificial Turf Fatorda, on Monday. 

Both teams strong in their attacking as well as back line got off to a bright start and cancelled out each other's attempts. The Velsao club had the upper hand in the game and this was evident as they finally took the lead in the after much probing in the 40th minute. Savio Fernandes was the goal scorer with a fine finish into the nets.

On resumption, both teams played an attacking game. St. Savio SC tried hard to find the all important equaliser and finally managed to make it all square in the 84th minute through Shashank Naik. 

But their joy was short lived as the Velsao team were not going to share it out and Oilex Oliveira came to their rescue and gave the team a lead in the final 90th minute.
