Veterans down Senior Citizens
MAPUSA: Veterans (above 50) registered a 7-6 via sudden death over Senior Citizens (above 60) in a exhibition match, at Duler stadium here, on Sunday.
The encounter was a delight to witness yester years players both nationals and internationals.
Brahamanad Sankhwalkar, Anthony Baretto, Camilo Silva, Salvador Fernandes, Bernard, Gokuldas, Bosco Monteiro display their skills for Senior Citizen (Above 60).
Above (50) time and again attacked the rival citadel but keeper Brahamanad Sankhwalkar managed to keep the slate clean. In the 15th minute Suresh Kumar was thwarted by the keeper in a one-to-one situation.
Above 50 almost scored in the 20th minute but Premanand Nanodkar saw his 25 yard strike rebound of the post with keeper Brahamanad beaten.
Gokuldas Nagvekar of Senior Citizen team failed to scored twice from close.
With the match ending in a goalless draw, the tie-breaker was enforced where Above 50 scored through Sukur, James, Brazilo, Premanand, Yeshwant, Francis and Ajit while for Senior Citizen colts Bernard, Netvalkar, Salvador, Anthony Baretto and Gokuldas scored.
