Yuva Srujan Puraskar on Goa Statehood Day

PANJIM, MAY 25 The first Yuva Srujan Puraskars(Nav-Sarjan Chetana Puraskars) announced by the Government of Goa through the Directorate of Art and Culture will be presented on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day on May 30 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium, Kala Academy from 4 pm onwards. Chief Minister Digamber V Kamat will be the chief guest and shall honour the artists.

The first Yuva Srujan Puraskars(Nav-Sarjan Chetana Puraskars) announced by the Government of Goa through the Directorate of Art and Culture will be presented on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day on May 30 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium, Kala Academy from 4 pm onwards. Chief Minister Digamber V Kamat will be the chief guest and shall honour the artists.
The Yuva Srujan Puraskar has marked its beginning with award being conferred on 8 Goan artists recognized for their valuable work done in their respective fields. The awardees are Vishnu Wagh (Literature), Vijaykumar V Naik (Drama), Prachala Amonkar (Music), Viraj Naik (Fine Art), Elvis Goes (Folk Art), Joao Francisco Silva alias John D�Silva (Tiatr), Suhas Vaze (Kirtan)and Sonu Shetgaonkar (Craft).
Chief Minister Kamat as the Minister for Art and Culture had announced the new scheme Yuva Srujan Puraskar (Nav-Sarjan Chetana Puraskar)in accordance to the cultural policy to encourage young artistes of the State to develop their talent with devotion for art and to felicitate them at the state level for their contribution.
The award function is open to all and the Asstt Director(Culture), Ashok Parab has appealed to the art lovers and others to attend the function.
Vishnu Surya Wagh (Literature), is an all rounder personality versatile in the fields of Journalism, Literature, Drama, Poetry, Acting, Directing, Oratory, and many more. He has written 18 Marathi, 8 Konkani, 15 Short plays, and 4 publications of poems. His Short plays and plays has bagged many prizes for writing and presentation at Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and at New Delhi and other places.
Vijaykumar Vishwanath Naik(Drama), a young versatile personality of the theatre, has acted in 500 plays and directed 100 one act and full length plays. From 1993, he has started imparting training in the field of Theatre through Hauns Theatre Training Centre, Ponda. He introduced one year project under the name �Rangamanch� for School and Higher Secondary students.
Prachala S Amonkar (Music) is dedicated to the Indian classical vocal music. Her basic training in music was held under the guidance of her grandmother, late Pirojabai Borkar and her father Shri Kishor Borkar. She has performed at prestigious Sangeet Sammelans all over the country.
Viraj Naik (Fine Art) is young talented artist who completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from Goa University. As a student he has bagged S L Parashar Gold Medal, University of Hyderabad, Gold Medal of Hyderabad Art Society, State Art Award twice, Nokia Arts Award, Asia Pacific, AIFAC, State Award thrice, and also Merit Scholarship of University of Hyderabad.
In the year 2001 he has participated in �Mono Print Workshop� organised by Fulbright Foundation, USA. He has also participated in Art Exhibitions at Bangkok and at America. He has participated in 21 Art Exhibitions in Goa and other States.
Elvis Goes (Folk Art) is a renowned Goan Folk artist, a singer, composer, writer, musician and dancer of repute. He is working for preservation and promotion of  folklore of Goa particularly Mando and other folk-art forms. He formed a Cultural Institution called �Quepenchim Kirnam� and started presenting folk music and dances all over Goa, India and abroad.
Joao Francisco Silva alias John D�Silva (Tiatr), famous Writer, Director and Actor of the Konkani stage is regarded as one of the top most comedian of Tiatr. His mere presence on the stage sends peels of laughter among the audience. He also writes dramas/ tiatrs with� thought provoking script with logical dialogues and highlighting moral messages . Till today he has written 25 tiatrs. He has also presented his shows of �Nattok� at London and Germany.
H B P Suhas Laxman Vaze (Kirtan), is a noted Kirtankar of the new era. After SSCE he was trained and educated in Vedic and Yagnik education. He has been educated in Kirtan at Kapileshwari, Ponda. He also received training in kirtan from HBP Mehandale Bua, Pune and HBP Ghagbua, Narsinhwadi and received Scholarship to undergo this training from Kala Academy, Goa. He was the recipient of 1st prize for Kirtan at Kirtan Competition of Kala Academy. He has also performed Kirtans for Akhil Bharti Kirtan Sammelan, Nivadak Kirtankar Kirtan Mohotsav, Kala Academy Kirtan Mahotsav.
Sonu Keshav Shetgaonkar (Handicrafts)is a master craftsman and moulds handicrafts from coconut shell, waste of coconut and also from thermacol. He took part in various handicraft competitions and exhibitions organised by the Government of Goa, Goa Handicrafts Corporation, Khadi and Gramodyog and Directorate of Art and Culture. He also attends and conducts workshops of handicrafts for the youth. He has prepared an item from coconut shells called �Samudra Manthan� which was selected for National Award by Central Government�s Handicrafts Marketing and Extension Centre, Goa, says a press release.
