Most of these sellers are from Karnataka, Rajasthan, Kerala and Kashmir and they occupy a good part of the road. This leads to a lot of traffic and pedestrian’s lives are put at risk. Goans want easy money, so they rent their places to non-Goans. They don’t see the negatives of it. On the beach, there are many hawkers who often disturb tourists by forcing them to buy their products. Due to the increase in such types of people, there are many robberies in the village and on the beach. Almost 80 percent of the business on the beach belt is owned by non-Goans. Anyone can come into Goa and start a business here. One can see bhelpuriwalas, shawramawalas, shackwalas, massagewalas etc. but can a Goan go into other states and start a business? I don’t think so.
