Advertisement banner blocks view, causes a head-on collision between two bikes at Vasco

The unplanned placement of a huge framed advertisement banner in Vasco caused a head-on collision between two bikes at the Indian Oil Corporation junction. The advertisement banner obstructed the view of both riders. Both the riders suffered grievous injuries and have been shifted to the hospital. Angry residents tore down the huge banners placed on the junction and demanded that Mormugao Municipal Council immediately remove all banners, posters and advertising boards from roadsides and traffic junctions

As reported on Herald TV, Two months ago, Activist Xencor Polji said that the metal frames for the banners are placed quite low and can lead to accidents. Polji had requested the  Mormugao Municipal council to remove the banners placed on the road before a tragedy takes place. However, the MMC stayed mum on the issue.
