“Even after repeatedly bringing the issue to the notice of the authorities and the local MLA, the problem still persists,” a villager said.

They alleged that the officials at Pernem PWD office and the local MLA assured to solve the problem within three days. However, they said, till date they have not received water.

They lamented that despite the water tank being located very close to their ward, they are still not receiving water even for half an hour a day. Because of the water shortage, they said, they are forced to walk almost a kilometer to get water from a spring.

The residents also complained that they are also not receiving water through tankers, as promised by the MLA and PWD officials.
