BJP stands exposed for cheating: GPCC

PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar, on Thursday, said the BJP Government stands exposed for cheating the mining dependants in Goa.
Reacting to the news report on mining issue, he said, “BJP has achieved its objective of closing mining in Goa to deprive the Bahujan Samaj another source of income. Manohar Parrikar and his coterie had started this mission since 2007 to stop mining in Goa.”
Chodankar said that the BJP Government at the Centre turning down the demand for resumption of mining activity in the State through an Ordinance, it has become clear that all these while the BJP in Goa was fooling the mining dependants with its multiple trips to Delhi by everyone — from chief minister to the mining minister to all three MPs to Speaker of Goa Assembly and even the newly inducted law minister who claims to be a champion of mining dependants.
“As recently as last week, all these photo-ops with BJP National President Amit Shah and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi clearly show that these politicians were trying to fool people by showing that BJP can override and circumvent Supreme Court decision but all this was a farce,” he said.
He said that even the recent tamasha by Goa Forward where their Supremo petitioned Union Commerce Minister was again a drama.
“The Congress Party in Goa reiterates that the Judgement of Supreme Court should be upheld and we demand that the Govt immediately to restart mining in the State,” he said.
He said that the law minister, the AYUSH minister and both MPs should immediately resign for their “incompetence and betrayal” of the people of Goa. Chodankar also demanded to know from BJP the difference between Ordinance and legislative solution.
He said that every election the BJP fooled people by stating that mining would resume next season. “This was just to get votes for BJP,” he added.
