PANJIM: Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC), at a recent meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, has decided to take up the renovation or reconstruction of panchayat buildings across Goa.
GSIDC has also decided to inspect the conditions of Government Primary Schools and hospital buildings owned by Directorate of Health Service in the State.
Confirming this, GSIDC Chairman Deepak Pauskar speaking to Herald said, “The report will be ready within two months after that we will take up the work of either renovating them or rebuilding them, depending on their conditions. There are a lot of panchayat buildings which are in need of reconstruction or renovation.”
GSIDC has also decided to use the District Mineral Fund (DMF), which is collected from mining firms, to take up the repairs or re-construction of buildings in the mining belt. “We can also utilise the fund released by central government under its various schemes for local bodies to construct the panchayats in the areas including mining belt,” he added.
