PANJIM: Dheeraj Rai and Mallika Gogoi emerged victorious in their respective categories of the The 2nd Dr. Filipe Pinto memorial all Goa Major ranking TT Tournament organised by Kabir Pinto Makhija, at Clube Vasco Da Gama, on Monday.
Dheeraj beat Diljeet Velingkar 4 – 0 (13-11,11-6,11-9,11-4) in men’s category final while in the women’s final Mallika blanked Eleanor Do Rosario 3–0 (11-8,11-7,12-10).
In the cadet boys category, Agustya Motwani edged past Aaron Farias in the final 3-2(11-6, 5-11,7-11,11-6,14-12) while in the cadet girls category, Leoma Fernandes beat Trusha Hammanavar in the final 3-1 (6-11,11-6,11-7,11-9).
Nagesh Verenkar defeated Anshuman Agarwal 3-0 (11-7,11-6,11-7) to win the sub-junior boys category while Sanisha Shetye won the sub-junior girl category beating Najida Sheikh 3-1 (11-7,9-11,11-4,11-9).
Anshuman Agarwal beat Santesh Mapsekar 3-0(11-6, 11-5, 11-7) in the junior boys category while Prutha Parrikar blanked Sneha Rane 3–0 (11-6,13-11,11-4)
Former India cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Pauline Sousa, Vero Nunes, Tony Dias, Prem Makhija, Xacuntala Pinto Makhija and other dignitaries.
