The Colva police has arrested one Mathew Gomes (57) from Varca in connection with the rape of a 32-year-girl from Sao Jose de Areal.
The Police have also taken a lady into custody for allegedly abetting the crime.
DySP Umesh Gaonkar told newsmen that the girl, major in age, was sexually assaulted by the accused for two days when she had stayed at his house at Reprawaddo-Varca.
PI Edwin Colaco said the unemployed girl was approached by one of her neighbours at Sao Jose de Areal whether she is willing to work as a maid servant at Varca. After she showed her willingness, the neighbour told her sister to take the girl to Varca to the house of accused Mathew, where she was allegedly raped for two days.
PI Colaco said the police has taken into custody the second lady Dumean and are on the look out for the first woman.
Police are investigating.
Harassment case: The Colva police have registered a case of down harassment against a husband following a complaint lodged by her wife.
The police have registered a case against the husband hailing from Per-Seraulim under section 498-A, 325, 504 and 506 of the IPC.
The police are conducting further investigations.
