Secreavaddo Sports Club thrashed St Cruz Sports Club, Tolleaband 4-0 to enter the quarter-finals of VJT Cup football tournament organised by VJT Events Management at Church ground, Chinchinim on Wednesday. There was no score at half time.
The teams went into the attack from the start and had numerous scoring chances, but their forwards fumbled.
Secreavaddo were a transformed side after the change of ends with former Sesa Goa striker Pascoalino D’Sa and former MPT defender Presley Pereira showing good form as they tormented the rival defence with snap shots.
Their persistent forays paid dividends after resumption when Presley Pereira unleashed a stiff grounder and caught the rival keeper on the wrong foot after he picked up a pass from Pascoalino Pereira.
Spurred by the success, Secreavaddo piled on the pressure and teased the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Gaurish Chari doubled the lead with a snap shot midway.
After two quick double blows, St Cruz were at sea as their defence crumbled under the slightest pressure.
Pascoalino D’Sa put the issue beyond doubt when his volley crashed into the nets.
Mario Rodrigues rounded off the tally just before the final call.
