PANJIM: The Transport Department has decided to review the contract of Securinex Inc, one of the two agencies engaged to fit digital meters. The submission was made before the High Court of Bombay at Goa during the hearing of a petition filed by the agency seeking to resume booking of digital meters.
The department, while objecting to the petition, claimed that the agency has failed to complete fitment of meters even more than a month of confirming the booking. “Once you accept the booking of fitting the digital meters, you have to implement it within one month. But in the present case, the agency has failed to do so. Several bookings are pending due to which we have stopped it from accepting further bookings,” the department submitted.

Further, the agency which has a share of 30 per cent, has exceeded its limit. “We have to review its contract since it has already exceeded the prescribed limit. With current bookings not being executed within the time frame, how can additional bookings be done and moreover why exceed the permitted limit?” it said further.
The series wise fitment of digital meters started from May last year with M/s Rosmerta Autotec Pvt Ltd holding 70 per cent of the total share as per the tender. Sources said the department has not found any fault with the first agency as the work is carried out smoothly. “We had some taxi drivers who complained that fitment of digital taxi meters are pending. When we found out, the second agency was involved into the delay after which we had to immediately intervene,” sources told Herald.
The High Court is slated to hold further hearing into the petition on January 14.
