Football, that most simple of games has also caught the fancy of the Goan.
Irrespective of his or her station in life, the performance of teams and
individual players are followed with a passion. The English Premier league is
very popular but there are leagues in Spain, Germany, Italy and Portugal to
name a few. that are also followed.
Without any question
the Premier league is the best. The standard of play is very good and yes, they
have marketed themselves so very well. They have reached out to fans in India
by screening the games in public areas. Many of their games are telecast live
thus attracting large crowds. They have reached out to the publics in India and
they have a strategy to increase the leagues popularity in the country. I love
my Liverpool and have followed them for years.

FOOTBALL DUG OUT
For me there is
nothing better than a Premier League match. It is a lot more exciting that the
matches in the other leagues. There is pace and it is lot more physical. I have
been following the English game since 1986 and my team is undoubtedly Tottenham
Hotspur. There is no other team for me. Dad was a fan of Liverpool and I wanted
a team that was better than them and I chose Tottenham all those years ago.

I only watch the
Premier league and I am a passionate Chelsea fan. The quality of games is very
high and it is usually contested at very good pace. I am following the
Champions league with much interest and I hope we win the finals against
Liverpool. This year the performance of English teams have been fantastic to
say the least.

When I get the time
to watch games, I certainly watch the English Premier League. I used to watch
so much more of football when I was abroad. Now it is important matches and
yes, world cup qualifiers. I have too much on my hand now.
PALEMON LOBO
I am huge fan of the
Premier league and I love it for the simple reason, there is competition
amongst several teams unlike in other leagues. I back Liverpool and have been
doing so since 2003 and I hope we lift the Cup this year. They have played
amazing football and the work rate they have displayed has been amazing. This
league is the best league in the world and the performance in the European
tournaments by English teams is an indication of the standard of play.

I watch the La Ligue
as well as the EPL, the standard of football is very high. Though it must be
said the styles are distinctly different. I enjoy and follow the fortunes of
Barcelona and Chelsea. I was very happy with the performance against Arsenal in
the finals of the Europa Cup. There was a certain polish in their performance.
With regards to the player I love to watch it has got to be Messi.
