PANJIM: With the Mopa airport project stuck in legal tangle, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that he would personally review the project so that all conditions of the Apex Court are met for faster re-start of project.
Sawant was speaking after a detailed discussion on the Supreme Court’s judgment that suspended the environmental clearance certificate and halted the work on the Mopa Airport project. The meeting was attended by Govind Jaiswal, IAS, Secretary-Environment, Dr Suresh Shanbhogue, Director Civil Aviation, R V Sheshan, CEO, GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL) and its senior officers.
The chief minister said that the impact of the judgment on the project was also discussed. Supreme Court has remanded the matter to the Expert Appraisal Committee.
Dr Shanbhogue informed the Chief Minister that temporary suspension of EC may delay the project timeline especially looking at the monsoon.
The chief minister has stated that he will personally review the progress in the matter regularly, so that all the steps are taken as per the directions of the Supreme Court for restarting the airport project.
