CUNCOLIM: Host Cuncolim Union downed Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 4-0 to march into the quarter-finals of South Goa Yarri Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union, at Government Village School ground, Cuncolim, on Saturday.
Cuncolim Union did not wait for long to open the flood gates and in the 12th minute, Trijoy Dias beat couple of defenders and shot the ball into the nylons.
Trijoy doubled the lead with stiff shot off a through pass received from Estrocio Fernandes in the 30th minute.
At the other end, a lot was expected from St Cruz Club of Cavelossim who looked jaded and failed to function as a unit.
In the 33rd minute, Trenoy Dias put the issue beyond doubt when he punished the rival goalkeeper with stiff grounder of a pass from Clifton Fernandes to make it 3-0 for Cuncolim Union.
There was no respite in the second period as well.
Trijoy Dias scored the fourth goal and registered his hat-trick in the second session of the play.
