PORVORIM: Only 50 per cent of the total extracted fresh iron ore was exported from Goa since the resumption of mining activities in the State in September 2015; bringing in revenue of around Rs 506.38 cr in form of royalty.
As per the information tabled on the Floor of the House, from September 2015 to October 2017, 32.29 million tonnes of fresh ore was extracted; however, the export during the period was only 17.64 million tonnes.
The iron ore mining industry resumed in September 2015 after a two-year long ban period imposed in September 2012. Of the total 89 mining leases, which were renewed, 44 commenced operation during the period.
In a written reply to series of questions, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that government earned revenue of around Rs 710.40 cr through fresh iron ore production, which includes Rs 506.38 cr on royalty.
The other payment is towards dead rent, surface rent, delayed payment, etc.
Government also earned revenue of Rs 1042.35 crore through e-auction of 11 million tonnes ore. Around 5.23 million tonnes of ore is yet to be auctioned.
