PONDA: Stating that the government can earn revenue from buildings like guesthouses which are lying unused, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday appealed to government officials to generate income from such projects by putting them to use.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the Animal Husbandry guesthouse constructed at Curti-Ponda in the presence of PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, sarpanch Gurudas Khedekar and others.
The building, which got delayed due to various works, was inaugurated after nine years. The foundation was laid in 2011. The guesthouse has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.70 crore.
He urged the youth to be self-reliant by availing the benefits of government schemes instead of running after government jobs. He regretted that despite the huge demand for milk, Goa produces only 30 per cent of its requirement.
Ravi Naik said, “The building was constructed to provide accommodation to VIPs and others so that government money could be saved from providing them with accommodation in five-star hotels.”
