Two incidents of suicide reported in Collem

PONDA: Two incidents of suicide were reported in Collem police jurisdiction on Monday.  The first was reported when a Class 12 student was found hanging in her rented room and the second was 50-year-old on a cashew tree.

As per Collem police, they received a call at around 6.45 am on Monday about a girl student, Vismita GS, 17, from Tumkur-Karnataka, committing suicide by hanging herself in a rented room at Bharipwada, Collem after she failed Class 12 by 4 marks. She was a single child and was under depression after failing her Class 12 science exams. Deceased had left a suicide note which made the reason clear.

In the second incident on Sunday night, one Suryakant Gaonkar from Dukle-Mollem was found hanging on a cashew tree. As per the sources, Gaonkar was undergoing medical treatment for the past few days. He had left the house on Sunday at 5 pm and his family members launched a search as he did not return till late night.

Collem police conducted the panchnama of both the incidents while further investigation is underway.
