Discipline in parking can solve parking woes in Vasco

Like other cities in the state, the port town of Vasco too is facing a huge problem with availability of parking space. However, the problem can be solved to a large extent with a little bit of discipline on the part of vehicle owners as far as proper parking of their vehicles is concerned. Just recently, sign-boards were put along the Swatantra Path earmarking different areas for two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking. However, it is seen that four wheelers are parked in the areas earmarked for two-wheeler and vice-versa (as seen in the photograph). It must be said that no amount of sign-boards is going to solve the parking problem in the city if vehicle owners do not park their vehicles as per these sign-boards. The authorities concerned cannot be expected to keep a watch and penalize all those who park their vehicles wrongly and definitely not after dusk. It is mostly after sundown that vehicles park haphazardly which leads to huge parking problems. If vehicles are parked in a crisscross manner, they occupy a lot of parking space which could accommodate more vehicles. One way to solve the problem would be to paint lines in the parking areas within which the vehicles need to be parked. Even then, it all depends on the vehicular owners to park their vehicles in a proper manner which will go a long way in solving the parking woes in the city. Lack of parking space is becoming a cause of concern in the port town with every passing day with the ever increasing number of vehicles on the roads.
