MAPUSA: Saligao United Club scored a resounding 3-0 win over Football Club of Siolim to advance into the quarter-finals of the Hotel Goan Heritage Unit of Gulf Goans Soccer Cup, organized by Calangute Association, at Poriat ground, here, on Thursday.
After a barren first half, Magan D’Cruz put Saligao into the lead in the 41st minute through a powerful strike from inside the danger zone.
After several missed chances, Saligao further inflated the lead in the 60th minute, once again through Magan D’Cruz, who scored off a free-kick.
When it looked Saligao would stop at that, Martin Fernandes took them up to a 3-0 lead through a long range strike.
