PANJIM: Demanding suspension of officials involved in the delimitation of Reis Magos Panchayat, Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo said he would write to Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to ask to conduct the upcoming panchayat elections in a fair manner and by following the proper procedure.
Meanwhile, the North Goa Collector has directed the concerned officers to carry out the ground level inquiry and rectify the issue of delimitation of Reis Magos Village Panchayat.
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik told Herald said that the Panchayat members along with the villagers had approached him with the representation demanding proper delimitation of VP Reis Magos. “The representation was then forwarded to the Mamlatdar and the Election Commission of India demanding rectification of mistake”.
Informing that the ward numbers 8, 9, 10, 11 of VP Reis Magos are not delimitated as per the geographical area and there lies a huge discrepancy in the voter’s list of each ward, Panch Subhash Pednekar said the issue of delimitation exists in wards of Betim side and therefore he is not much aware about the same.
Though BLOs are to be held responsibile for the negligence in delimitation of wards, Naik said, “Inspite of me being MLA of this constituency, even my name has been mistakenly added to list of some other wards. There are many such examples wherein the names from one ward have been added to other and vice versa. Mistakes happen. It can be understood. Now that we have submitted the representation and Deputy Collector has done the inspection, soon the issue of delimitation will be rectified”.
When contacted, Sarpanch of VP Reis Magos Sushmita Pednekar refused to speak on this discrepancy.
Lobo alleged that the delimitation of Reis Magos panchayat has been done based on religious grounds.
