panjim: The Goa government-backed mobile app based taxi service GoaMiles is looking forward to ferry employees to their various firms and back.

GoaMiles resumed its services in the State from May 4, when Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) granted further relaxation on the movement of public transport in certain zones across the country.
The cab service was also affected due to the lockdown but it is slowly limping back to normalcy. Director of Operations at GoaMiles Parashar Pai Khot said their business is currently doing “fine.”
“The business is fine since we resumed our operations on May 4. We are in talks with companies for our new service ‘employee transportation.’ Once we are in receipt of replies from the companies, it will be placed before the Board meeting next week and further steps will accordingly be taken,” Khot told Herald.
The proposed venture will ensure that after each trip, the cabs will be sanitized for next use. “We see that there is no social distancing when people are queued up for the bus; however, the norm is maintained inside the bus. For those, who miss the bus, ‘Employee Transportation’ could be a boom. It is also a solution to prevent crowding,” he added. As per the government decision, each taxi can carry maximum three passengers besides the driver.
In connection with the proposed service, the ensuing Board meeting will also discuss the fares, technical and other aspects. The initiative will increase the number of trips as Khot revealed their trips, per day, will surge to around 10 from the existing 5-6 a day. Pick and drop of passengers, other than employees, will also be accepted, he said.
Goa Miles also gave an update about the number of bookings they received since Monday: May 4 (43), May 5 (32) and May 6 (46).
