Baina police outpost to be housed in Ravindra Bhavan

PORVORIM: The Baina police outpost will be temporarily relocated to the Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, with additional staff.

This was informed by CM Pramod Sawant while replying to a starred question tabled by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar in the legislative assembly on Wednesday. He further said that though 26 posts of various ranks were vacant in the Mormugao police station, as many as 13 staff, including lady constables will be posted at the police station within a week.

Sawant said that the government is in the process of redirecting staff from traffic police cell to police stations, while 135 PSIs, 971 constables and home guards are undergoing basic training and staff would be posted at all police stations including Mormugao.

Earlier, Amonkar said that the Baina outpost was inoperative for the last few months and that thefts were on the rise in Mormugao constituency due to lack of police 

personnel at the Mormugao police station. Even senior citizens were waylaid and robbed, he said, urging the government to post more policemen.
