MAPUSA: Goa Police Sports Club opened the GFA’s First Division League with a bang, hammering Goa Velha Sports Club 5-0 margin, at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday. The winners went into the breather with a comfortable four goals cushion.
In a one way traffic, the Policemen shot into the lead in the early moments of the match when Milind Shinde sent a pinpoint pass to unmarked Sachin Chopdekar, who charged into the Goa Velha citadel and beat the Goa Velha custodian with an adroit placement.
Milind who was a livewire in the Goa Police half line once helped them to double up the score in the 15th minute when his free-kick found skipper Abdul Khan, who on gaining control over the ball flicked it over the Goa Velha wall, 2-0.
Goa Velha did have an opportunity to pull one back however Jesroy Fernandes saw his effort bang the Goa Police upright and bounce back into play.
