PANJIM: Banda Handballers outplayed host Siolim Handball Club in the finals of 2nd Invitational Handball Friendship Cup 2013 played on league basis and organized by Siolim Handball Club, at St. Anthony’s Church ground, Siolim, recently.
Total four teams were invited from Goa and Shindudurg District namely Banda Handballers, Shindudurg Boys, Daniella Handballers Navelim Goa and host Siolim Handball Club.
For the inauguration ceremony, senior handball player from Siolim Chandan Dhargalkar was the chief guest along with Rowan Colaco, physical education teacher.
Siolim Handball Club President Anant Sawal welcome the chief guest and the formal opening of tournament was done by Chandan Dhargalkar with a handball shoot in the goal.
For the prize distribution function, patron of Siolim Handball Club, who is also the sarpanch of VP Parsem Devendra Prabhu Dessai was the chief guest and handed over the trophies to the winners and the runners-up.
Dessai in his address appreciated the hard work done by Siolim Handball Club, who for the last 23 years, are organizing handball tournaments in various places of North Goa.
Later, Vijay Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
