Candolim Panchayat, Traffic Police Launch Community Programme to Boost Road Safety

The Village Panchayat of Candolim, in collaboration with the Traffic Police and ECHO, hosted the Traffic Police Assistance Programme at the Candolim Panchayat Hall on Tuesday, aiming to strengthen community participation in ensuring safer roads.

The event, which commenced at 10:30 am, was attended by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, who underscored the crucial role of citizens in supporting traffic management and road safety efforts.

Also present were Candolim Sarpanch Salvador Blaize Fernandes, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Prabodh Shirvaikar, and Police Inspector Brendan D’Souza, who jointly stressed the importance of coordination between locals, panchayat representatives, and traffic officials to improve traffic flow and reduce road hazards.

The programme highlighted key aspects of road discipline, awareness of traffic rules, and safety measures for both residents and tourists, given Candolim’s position as one of Goa’s busiest tourism hubs. Particular focus was placed on how community support can aid traffic police in tackling congestion and enhancing pedestrian safety.
