RAIA: Ponda Footballers outplayed Curtorim Gymkhana 3-1 to enter into the quarter-finals of 24th Bro Eulalio Vaz memorial football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory at oratory ground, Fatorda, on Wednesday.
In a exciting pre-quarterfinal match, Ponda Footballers were eager to get the early lead and in the 5th minute Ravindra Gaude overpowered the defence and placed the ball into the net.
As the match progressed, Curtorim Gymkhana got a penalty kick which was well converted by Savio Peixoto in the 21st minute. At half time, both the teams were held to a 1-1 draw.
In the second session, rain started to pour and due to water-logging playing condition was not up to the mark but Ponda Footballers kept cool and scored two goals through Dadapeer Patil and Astan Dias in the 40th and 45th minute of play to steal the fate of
Curtorim Gymkhana.
