MAPUSA: Saligao Sporting Club registered a hard-fought 5-3 win via tie-breaker over Assonora United FC to enter the quarter-finals of Augustias Inter-Village Football Tournament played at Pomburpa ground, on Monday.
The teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time.
In the 20 minutes of the first half, Saligao Sporting Club took the lead with a goal from Orton Pinto, while Prajyot Arobekar equalised for Assonora United FC in the 44th minute of play.
In the resultant tie- breaker, Saligao Sporting Club proved to be better shooters with goals from Latesh, Nikhil, Orten and Peter; while Sebastian and Prajyot scored for Assonora United FC.
Orten Pinto of Saligao Sporting Club was awarded the man-of-the-match.
