A Delhi-based resident has allegedly encroached upon land belonging to the Water Resources Department near the salt pan area at Chopdem Agarwadda in Pernem, locals have claimed. According to residents, temporary structures and fencing have been erected on the site, which falls within government-controlled land. Locals further stated that the encroachment spans nearly 300 metres and is obstructing traditional access routes to nearby salt pans, affecting daily activities. The issue has triggered concern among salt pan workers and villagers who depend on the area for their livelihood. Following the incident, locals have urged authorities to take immediate action. They have specifically demanded swift intervention from the local panchayat to remove the alleged encroachment and restore access.
