Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav was felicitated by Goa Minister Mauvin Godinho after being honoured with the “Best Sarpanch” award for his contribution towards rural development. During a function held at the minister’s office in New Vaddem, Godinho also felicitated Veer Kamla Prasad Yadav for being recognised as an emerging cricketer in Goa.
Addressing reporters, Mauvin Godinho said the Chicalim Panchayat has earned several accolades over the years and this latest recognition marked its seventh award. He expressed pride over Kamla Prasad Yadav receiving the honour and said it was a matter of satisfaction that the achievement came from his constituency.
The minister urged other panchayats to take inspiration from the work carried out by the Chicalim Panchayat. He said a large population resides in village and panchayat areas, and maintaining cleanliness along with implementing proper development works could help more panchayats gain similar recognition.
Speaking about Veer Yadav’s achievement, Godinho said it reflected the steady growth of cricket in Goa. He added that he was proud of the young cricketer’s progress and hoped to see him play in the IPL and eventually represent India at the international level.
Kamla Prasad Yadav thanked the Panchayat Minister for the felicitation and said both he and his son were delighted to receive the honour. He stated that under the guidance and support of Mauvin Godinho, the Chicalim Panchayat had now secured its seventh award.
He further informed that renovation work of the panchayat building is currently in progress. Yadav said the office was the first panchayat building to feature a lift facility at the time of its construction. He added that several initiatives have been introduced to improve professionalism and public interaction, including uniforms and nameplates for workers and the setting up of a receptionist desk with a “May I Help You” board to create a more citizen-friendly environment.
