Vijai Sardesai Vows to Make Goa ‘Coconut Capital of India’ if Government Comes to Power

Goa: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has pledged to provide subsidised support to coconut growers for five years if his government comes to power, while also aiming to position Goa as the “coconut capital of India.”

Sardesai said his proposed measures would focus on addressing challenges faced by coconut farmers, including the emergence of new diseases affecting cultivation.

He said greater technical knowledge, hybrid coconut varieties and modern cultivation practices could be introduced to improve productivity and support the sector.

Sardesai added that sustained government support and the adoption of improved farming methods would help strengthen coconut cultivation and work towards establishing Goa as the country’s leading coconut-producing region.
