CURCHOREM: People from Quepem and surrounding areas of Curchorem, Balli and parts of Agonda have been inconvenienced on account of the additional charges held by the Quepem Deputy Collector Rohit Kadam.
It is learnt that Kadam is holding additional charges as Chief Officer of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) and Quepem Municipal Council (QMC), Member Secretary of Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem and as special officer in Water Resource Department (WRD) in land acquisition besides holding his post as the Deputy Collector of Quepem.
People are upset as Kadam proceeded on sick leave and gave additional charge of Quepem to Dharbandora Deputy Collector Prashant Shirodkar.
“I have been directed to hold additional charge of only deputy collector and presently I am having additional charge of chief officer of Cuncolim municipality besides my own duty as deputy collector of Dharbandora,” Shirodkar said.
Questioning as to how can one person work at so many places, Opposition Leader and Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavalekar said this shows the failure of the government and that it is not serious about the functioning of its own departments.
“Government should not have overburdened one person with so many duties as it hampers the work of the common man. Government should have divided the work accordingly. It is not feasible for one person to hold so many additional charges to run the administration smoothly.” said Kavlekar and demanded that the post be filled up immediately.
