VASCO: GOACAN (Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network) has demanded that the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs conduct an inquiry into the death of a consumer and the critical condition of three others due to a domestic LPG cylinder leakage at Fakir Galli, Vasco.
GOACAN coordinator Roland Martins demanded that the inquiry by Civil Supplies Inspectors should determine if the dealer conducted the mandatory mechanical check, a safety check done once every two years and whether the date of the same was endorsed on the Domestic Gas Consumer Card.”

“The inquiry should also determine if the insurance available to LPG Consumers in such cases is paid to the families of the deceased. The inspectors also need to check if the safety awareness for the benefit of LPG consumers was undertaken,” he said.
“GOACAN has decided to pursue the matter with Jayant G Tari, Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Sanjit Rodrigues, Secretary (Consumer Affairs) at a review meeting with LPG companies and other departments,” Martins added.
